Desktop Tutorial 1 - The basics.

How to take a screenshot of your Desktop.

How to remove the icons from your Desktop.

Requirements:
Applications & programs;

JASC's PSP/Microsoft Paint -

Or any other basic image making software that allows you to create jpg/bmp/png file type images.

I create my smileys using JASC's psp7. This tutorial will show you how I did it,

Though the basic principle can be applied using most other programs.

Arrange your desktop how you want it.

Move the icons to a position that suits you;

Taking into account that new items saved too the desktop appear at the upper left corner.

So I tend too leave that area clear.

Taking a Desktop screenshot.

Press the Print Screen button on you keyboard.

This copies the image you can see on your monitor too the clipboard.

Open up your art Application or Program (I use JASC's PaintShopPro7.)

& Paste the image into the work area. (Right Click & Select Paste.)

Or CTRL & V is a good Paste shortcut combo for this.

Then Save Image As a .jpg or any other file you want/require.

Want an Icon free desktop?

Simply right click while over the Desktop area. (See Figure 1.)

This opens a Menu/Pop up. (See Figure 2.)

Mouse over to Arrange Icons By, then hover to Show Desktop Icons option.

Selecting ticked or unchecked here turns on or off the Icons on the desktop.

(See Figure 4 For Icons off Display.)
