G.T - Rants.
Delving further into the Networks & Stability. I am serious on what I mentioned above, people now use the main P2P programs less, Messenger systems are the better choice for many. Seeing this myself as I have monitored the flow & connectivity of my own Internet access so I could measure both. & also kept an eye on the way the trends are going and what people fall back on when Network searches turn up empty or with only bad choices. A whole sub culture has generated where collective or clubs gang together locating & housing whole libraries of Information, Files or other data associated with their chosen Collective or tastes. Often having several legitimate legal digital format archive files Freely & ready to share on open P2P Networks, so that they can download others of the same nature on a 1 for 1 transfer basis. Using the files they have to capture others so to speak. Or on the other side of it, use these files or join these collectives so they can conduct file transfers privately through faster or easier means such as a Messenger service. Even newly pirated material that the Industry are in outrage about are not as readily available in general as often made out, although they still say they are, they never state how difficult it can be to actually get hold of whatever file or film they are crying blue murder over. As most Films or Music files are rather large files, you need a good connection for long lengths of times to get them if you are trying too.
The facts stand, on many Connection packages you are not getting what you pay for. That always on connection is not always on. Customer Support is not Supporting the Customer fast enough. Hidden limits or restrictions are always present.
For example... I own a computer, it's a very reliable Computer, well looked after, stable & in very good working order. I can switch it on and it will run for weeks without an issue. It can stay online and be operated for hours using many programs. Working online as long as any connection can be located. I know my Computer is up to the job of Doing what it was created for.
So why am I paying for an always on, fuss free High speed Internet Connection... ... when that is far from the truth of the service I actually get for my money? I sometimes need to spend hours online with a very stable fast connection, that is why I pay for the one you advertised as being such. I Create, Design & Manage Web Sites and Communities, so these things are essential for my needs. Those reasons are part of why I chose your service over my last provider and other companies I could have used instead when I cancelled their service for bad quality Internet. I know if my Computer is provided with what I am paying for it will operate on it without issue because it has in the past & still would do if only it was getting what it was supposed to be. Oh, and by the way, when I contact your Support team over the issue a few times over an issue and you say it is my Computer, and as we go through the processes it turns out it isn't, please have the courage to say what it actually is the first time around, before you have Clients messing about with their settings. At least if they are sure their set up and PC is working, believe them or give them the choice of hearing the truth about it being an issue with your Product rather than their Computer. Knowing the PC works fine and then being told by someone reading a check list without an actual clue what it does isn't going to inspire confidence.
If my Computer can stay online & operating for hours, then it suddenly gets kicked offline, I know the issue lies at your end, not mine. When I can tell the Network I am on is busy or keeps spiking or dropping, I know. The programs I use let me know as I monitor my bandwidth upload and download speeds constantly, so I can give time frames when working with web page updates or file sizes. I also am able to do the maths involved to know the Restrictions you place upon me are pathetically low for the amount you are charging for them. I live pretty much on top of one of your Exchanges, so am well within reach of the mainline service you promise. It should be the best service anyone could wish for at the rates you charge, so why am I only getting a pulse when I should be getting lots more? I spend hours offline double and triple checking my Computer to make sure it is not the cause and as per usual it is an issue at your end. I lose hours working or enjoying my Internet time and connection checking my system or offline when I should be doing other things with that time. Sort out your Networks before blaming mine or my methods of getting online with yours. My Firewall is not the issue nor is my other Software for keeping my Computer Virus and Spyware Free so do not blame them.
All I ask for is the rates/speeds/online uptime that you offered and I pay for. Always on & @ stated speed. Any Offline time you should be paying me.
The correlation between E-Mail/P2P & Broadband Britain and Messenger? OR what this is all about. It's a mixed bag of issues that all connect, If you can't stay online for any great length of time at optimal speeds, you can't really pirate/download pirate material if you can't even stay online long enough to create a web site. When you struggle to upload any decent sized legitimate file or you can't because they time out when they shouldn't, you know enough to see that the issue is with who it is provides you with the service. A service that is not anywhere near the standard they say it is, it is in fact very much below par and not covering where it should be reliably. Are they trying to cap serial File sharers or trying to force regular surfers or convert Hobbyist web Masters or Community Workers to pay a small fortune for a business line, who knows. Or is it actually down to the fact they don't have half as good Systems, Networks, Mainframe Infrastructure to offer a first class service as can be seen elsewhere in the world?
Surely in the UK less than a 100 Million people in such a small Place can be provided with a good, strong digital service and future? Don't we actually deserve one now? Especially if we are paying for it! Especially when it is being bragged about that we are indeed, Broadband Britain. Visit the Web Store... >=]
